Skiddaw Grove

Skiddaw Grove was built around 1820 as a Gentleman's residence.

It has seen many changes over the years and was converted to a 12 bedroom hotel in the 1970s.

In 1998 it was adapted to a 5 bedroom guest house with 2 self catering apartments.

Currently we are only letting the self catering apartments.

Home from home

The Matthews family moved to Skiddaw Grove in early 2003 and the rest, as they say is history.

It has been a great pleasure to welcome many guests over the years.

Skiddaw Grove is situated on a quiet residential street.

Who we are

Diane

Originally from Shropshire, I discovered a love for hiking and the great outdoors on a school visit to the Duddon Valley. It was after meeting Andrew at Lancaster Uni that we hoped that one day we would be able to live in The Lake District. When the chance came we jumped at the opportunity and here we are more than 20 years later.

The family

Freddie

Andrew

Originally from Lancashire, I spent many wonderful (often rainy!) holidays in the Lake District and I knew early on this was where I wanted to be.

Whether you want that short break that you deserve or that family holiday, we have the perfect place.
